Well, it's been a bit of time eh?

Things have been okay here... work has been busy. Since Sakura Con, I've pretty much hit the ground running. Part of me really doesn't mind, though... I thrive off of moving around and being busy. Nonetheless, another part suffers when I do not get much time to myself and to do what matters to me.

This won't turn into a rant, I promise! But what it all boils down to is that I've suffered a bit of an art burnout. Happens from time to time... I have projects on the go; work for other people, and bits that have been coagulating upon my harddrive for weeks. Procrastination? Yeah. Pieces that I have started EONS ago are /still/ lurking. Like that mouse-drawing of Latila that I started and was SO PROUD OF at one point... and now, I see it as outdated and really... have no feeling to continue it. Thus, the struggle of a fickle artist.

Nonetheless, there are newer bits... a couple that have been worked on during the Con. But overall, I feel that I need to do something to rekindle some sort of muse. Look at some old fanfics that I started, old RP logs.. work on some existing original stories that have ALSO found their way into the pending box. Anything, really. There's such a wealth of inspiration in front of me.. old projects that have been put down but beg to be picked up again. I am pretty bad for procrastinating with art... especially when my muse is burnt out. So I shall strive over the next while to get things going again.

The spring and summer seasons shall be busy. Two of my dearest friends are to be wed next month, so that's the biggest thing upcoming. I'm also hoping to get my funds ready for a trip back to my hometown for my gramma's 80th in August, which means a lot to me to attend. I think I'll pull it off, but it'll be tight. But darnit, I'll make it.

In the fall, the biggest goal that I have is to attend a course that will help me figure out who I am and where I'm going. There are some personal demons that I am still kicking out of the clutter of my mind, and some issues that I need to resolve. It's an intense, 25-day course that is set in a sort of resort/school on a little island known as Gabriola Island, in the Strait of Georgia. (Between Vancouver Island and the mainland of B.C)

It'll be expensive, and daunting, but it's something that I feel must be done. I've been floundering so much, trying to figure out what to do with myself... secondary education, etc... and I think I need to figure out who I am FIRST before I can figure out what I can do for a career. It's pointless to hurl yourself into a career that you THINK you want, when you haven't come to terms with things about yourself yet.

I've been to that place before, in June of 2006.. for another course that was very hardcore, but it helped me along considerably and gave me more faith in people. Now, it's time to get some faith in myself. So yeah.. pretty deep. I've been mulling over this goal for the past year, and I'm hoping that I can pull this off. Cross fingers.

Other than personal revelations, working like a madwoman, and overall artistic lull... things have been okay. As mentioned, it's gonna be a busy year.. but I think I'm ready to take it on!
